Project Description

The Hanseatic brewing trade has been closely linked to the city of Stralsund (northern Germany) for centuries. The beers of the Stralsund brewery, founded in 1827, already enjoyed great esteem during the imperial heyday of the Baltic seaside resorts at the end of the 19th century. The brewery quickly advanced to become the purveyor to the court of spa gastronomy. Its beers were regarded there as the benchmark for Hanseatic brewing art. The constantly growing demand made an expansion of the capacities inevitable. This led to the construction of the new “Stralsunder Vereinsbrauerei” brewery on the Greifswalder Chaussee. The industrial building made of red brick was equipped with the latest technology: the installation of one of the first “Linde” refrigerating machines enabled an unusually high beer quality at that time.
